Following the rules…on the ski slopes
Skiing or snowboarding is always a fun activity, but can be very dangerous in certain situations. For that reason, the ski resorts along with local and state governments have devised extensive rules governing your conduct at ski resorts.
In California, the following rules are aimed at skiers and snowboarders:
California Penal Code § 602(r):
- Skiing or riding in closed area
- Unlawfully going past ski area boundary
- Punishable as a misdemeanor
California Penal Code § 653i:
- Leaving scene of accident
- Except to obtain assistance
- Up to $1000 fine
California Penal Code § 537:
- No lift ticket or another season pass
- Reselling lift ticket
- Up to $1000 fine and/or six months in jail
